Emperor Belos Fandom

Through his expeditions of the Boiling Isles, Philip began to observe the settings' unique phenomena of hidden glyphs, the foundation behind magic itself, and by connecting them, realized he could summon spells of his own. During this time, Philip found at least three of the core glyphs, but only after an extensive period of research. At some point, Philip carved the glyphs into his right arm, presumably in an attempt to control his magic directly.[6] Unfortunately for Philip, this backfired terribly, as the glyphs caused his body to violently contort and morph when they tried to activate. As emperor, he ruled the isles from his castle with the protection of his coven and his creation, the Golden Guard Hunter, where he would prepare for the Day of Unity, an event where he hoped to accomplish all his goals against the witches, while under the ruse it would bring a paradise to everyone on the isles.

As revealed in the episode "Hollow Mind", his beast form is that of a skeletal figure made out of green sludge with dark patches. His eyes are sunken in and glow blue, his nose is nothing but a hole, and his mouth is shaped in a toothy gape and often glows blue. Two horns resembling those on his mask are attached to his head, as is a long mane of completely grey hair. Luz returns and together with Eda, King, and Raine they successfully defeat Belos, ripping him from the Titan's heart, destroying both it and the castle in the process. Belos tries faking reformation and thanking Luz for saving him, saying all his actions were because of a curse.

Luz Noceda

Given his prejudice against witches, Belos likely only saw Odalia as nothing more than a pawn like the rest of his allies. As it turns out, Lilith met Belos back when he was Philip and out of righteous fury over his attempt to sacrifice herself and Luz, punched Philip in the face and broke his nose. Whether this meant that Belos recognized Lilith in present day and gave her the position in his coven just to keep her close is unclear but strongly implied.

It seems Belos did look out for Hunter in the end.

Over the centuries, Caleb would continue to hold a powerful influence over Philip. After assuming the identity of Belos, he would create several grimwalkers in Caleb's image to act as his right hand in his plot to eradicate witch and demon-kind and enforce his rule over the isles. In "Hollow Mind", Belos' inner self claims that his creation of the grimwalkers was also motivated out of a desire to create what he deemed to be a "better version" of his late brother, implying that he sought to restore the image of Caleb that he admired in his youth, one that depicted him as a witch hunter that shared his vision. Despite this, Belos has been shown to remain resentful towards Caleb for his "betrayal" centuries prior.

To remedy this, Philip acquired a new identity of a witch named "Belos" and tricked the witches by telling them that he had the ability to talk to the Titan. He would then claim that the Titan told him that the witches were misusing magic by mixing it, hiding his face behind an updated version of his childhood mask. Now alone with Luz, Inner Belos goes on to reveal himself as a witch hunter and confirms not only his plans for the Day of Unity, but that Belos and Philip are the same person. Inner Belos then advances toward her, assuming the form of Philip briefly to torment her further, forcing her to retreat in fear. Luz questions why Belos is doing all this, and Inner Belos simply responds that he is trying to save humanity from evil.

In the epilogue of the series, Eda becomes a teacher at a school for wild magic and gains a hook hand. In season three, Luz eventually returns to the Boiling Isles alongside her friends and mother. She finally gains a palisman in the form of a "snake shifter" which she names Stringbean.[17] After reuniting with Eda and King, she also shows compassion towards the Collector, befriending him and learning King's parent, the Titan, has been aiding her through her glyph magic. When Belos possesses the Titan's heart and attempts to kill everyone on the Isles, Luz sacrifices herself to save the Collector's life.

Emperor Belos

The boiling rain comes down and it burns his body, no longer stable and unable to live. Belos continues his delusions until Luz backs away and Eda, King, and Raine stomp him, ending his reign of witch-hunting forever. He declared that he alone could speak to the island, and convinced the witches of the isles that their usage of magic was wrong. His teachings came into place, his strength grew, and became Emperor of the Boiling Isles.

In season two, it is shown that Bump openly enjoys Luz's presence at the school but is forced by the Blights to expel her, Gus, and Willow, despite not wanting to. When they attempt to get back into school, he is upset at having to prevent them from entering, and that he thinks life was dull without them.[8] "Hunting Palismen" reveals that the devil "hat" on his head is actually his palisman Frewin, which allows him to see due to an unspecified incident in his youth. After the students defeat Graye and the Emperor's Coven, Bump gets them to leave by stating that he would tell Emperor Belos that they were defeated by children.[47] He is captured by the Collector after the events of "King's Tide" and the remaining Hexside students create a statue in his honor, though he is later revived.

Although Belos is baffled by this, he decides that the Collector needs to be out of the picture and tries to contain him in his mold. However, Luz ends up saving them at the last second, but she ends up getting infected and evaporates into several orbs of light. Driven by rage and grief, Eda and King transform into more monstrous versions of themselves and attack Belos. And yet, despite their best efforts and newly found strength, it still isn't enough. Belos, taking the form of a dragon, using the power of the Titan to destroy the Boiling Isles. With the Day of Unity only one month away, Belos personally makes an announcement to all subjects in the Boiling Isles.

Following his rise to the throne, he founded the Coven System and built his castle as a symbol of unity, directly upon the Titan's chest cavity. Belos' plans come to fruition as he reveals he never intended to free the Collector before Luz stops him from returning to the human world by branding him with a sigil in an attempt to force him to cancel the draining spell. He is affected by the Day of Unity, as it causes him to lose control of his body and mutate into a monstrous creature that nearly kills her and her friends.

After meeting the Titan's spirit in the In-Between Realm, Luz is temporarily given the last of his power, which revives her and allows her to defeat and destroy Belos with help from Eda, King, and Raine Whispers. Afterward, Luz is able to live with her friends and family in both the Human and Demon Realms, after the Collector creates a new, permanent portal door for her. In the series' final scene, when Luz turns 18, everybody throws a "King-ceañera" party for her, to make up for her using her previous three birthdays to help rebuild the Boiling Isles. She also learns that, while her original glyph magic died with the Titan, the growing King has developed new glyphs for her to learn. Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman) is a student at Hexside; she is an abomination expert and works part-time at the Bonesborough Library.
